Commencement ceremonies will be presented on the Commencement Livestream page and have closed captioning.
ASL Interpreters
Sign language interpreters are available upon request for Commencement ceremonies. Please contact the Office of Event Management & Protocol at (805) 893-2117 or email commencement@ia.ucsb.edu to make arrangements once your student has reserved their ceremony but no later than May 18, 2026.
Sun-Sensitive Seating
Our Commencement site is outdoors and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø weather in June tends to be unpredictable. A very limited amount of shaded tent seating is available. We ask that parties limit the use of these tents to two guests. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
Note: Umbrellas are not permitted at Commencement. Click here for the full list of prohibited items and clear bag policy.
Alternative Viewing Location
Indoor accommodations, broadcasting the ceremony livestream, for those with disabilities and the elderly will be available in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
Restrooms
Accessible portable restrooms are located on-site between Hatlen Theater and the Arts Building.
Wheelchairs
Due to the size of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, guests who have mobility issues may want to consider bringing a wheelchair for this event.
ADA Parking
Commencement guests displaying an officially issued disabled placard or license plate should follow the blue signs to accessible parking.
